Setting Up Your Own Home Brewing Station
Brewing your own beer is not only a fun thing to do but can be immensely satisfying as well. There is nothing like going into the depths of your cellar or basement and producing a one of a kind brew to share with special friends. It can be quite a conversation piece as you share and enjoy your latest recipe.
Where to get your supplies? You can get them at your local store and have fun browsing through all the bits and pieces available. Or you can surf the Internet and look through the vast array of websites available on brewing your own beer. There is equipment and supplies of all sorts at varying prices.
Setting up your home brewing station is not as hard as may seem at first glance. The easiest way to do this is to purchase a kit. A kit will have you up and running with a brew ready to go in about 90 minutes. Now you will have to leave it for about a week before bottling. After bottling leave it to ferment properly for about 6 weeks. Your kit will have a 5-gallon capacity. This should be enough to start with, as you will want to make a small amount at first.
Your can use your equipment every week and just purchase a new kit with ingredients. Remember to sanitize your equipment well. Contamination will not only ruin your beer but can make you sick as well. This can be done simply and safely with proper hygiene.
Wash your hands well before touching your brewing equipment. Make sure all your surfaces are clean and sanitized. Germs are everywhere Always wash equipment with warm soapy water. Then sanitize it by soaking in commercial solution. Remember when you deal with any food substance hygiene is a number one priority.
Basically this is it and you will be able to make simple brews with the aid of your kit and basic equipment. Once you have become expert it is time to experiment with different flavors. This is where the fun begins and you will be able to make your own unique brew.
